Bouza: Argentina are not the Jaguares

Bouza told media at the teams Gauteng base that Super Rugby is extremely different to Test-match rugby and Los Pumas will not look to replicate the Jaguares' all-out attacking approach when they take on the Springboks in their first game of this year's Rugby Championship.

"We [Jaguares] tried to play a lot in our 22 and in our half, they [different teams throughout Super Rugby] scored a lot of tries from turnovers so we are still trying to play but the decision making for Saturday has to be correct," Bouza said, referring to the Jaguars tactics during this year's Super Rugby tournament.

The last time Argentina played South Africa at their home ground was in August last year and on that occasion they managed to beat the Springboks for the first time in their history with a 37-25 victory in Durban. Bouza added that if Argentina are to register back to back victories over South Africa at their home ground they will have to put in a team effort on defence and compete well at the breakdown.

"Whenever we play against South Africa we know that if they get the momentum it's going to be very difficult for us.

"If they play on the front foot it will be a long afternoon for us so we know we have to stop them. 

"We have to be very selective at the breakdown. If we go to every breakdown and they have quick ball we know it will be very difficult," explained Bouza.

Argentina finished fourth at last year's World Cup in England. However, their most recent Test match ended in a 27-0 defeat against France in June and Bouza admits that there is still plenty of work to be done in the national team.

"We know we had a very good World Cup but the World Cup was last year and earlier this year we played three games, we won two [against Italy and France] and the third one was very bad [27-0 defeat to France] so we know we have to improve our tactics," said Bouza.

Turning his attention to what South Africa will bring to the game on Saturday, Bouza said that he has a lot of respect for the two-time world champions and he expects them to show the same sort of intensity which carried the Lions through to this year's Super Rugby Final.

"We saw South Africa play against Ireland, they didn't have too many weeks for preparations, now they have two weeks to prepare and they are going to be similar to the Lions. 

"South Africa are usually good at the set-piece and we are preparing for a very tough game.

"At the moment we are ranked ninth in the world. South Africa is third on the rankings so we have a lot of respect. 

"We know they are in a transition, they have a new coach but they are a very tough team for us," said Bouza.
