Montero wants to shift to higher gear

Montero was part of the Pumas team that narrowly lost (23-30) to the Boks in the opening round of the Rugby Championship in Nelspruit last weekend.

So far, the 24-year-old has played four games for the Pumas this year, scoring two tries in the June international window. However, he was unable to cross the whitewash at the Mbombela Stadium.

"The indiscipline cost us the game," Montero told uar.com.ar.

"We did some very good things, but in the pressure situations, errors cost us the game.

"We are all aware of what we have to do on the field, but I think we have to be more focused on those key moments and secure the ball."

Despite the loss, Montero was happy with his own performance in Nelspruit, but he also feels that he can add something extra as well.

"I felt good and I felt useful to the team. I think I played a good match, even though I think I could have given more.

"Hopefully, I will get another opportunity this weekend," he added.
