Player ratings: All spark, no fire

Once again, maintaining their discipline was an issue for the South Americans as they conceded three yellow cards, two of which to one player who was subsequently shown a red card.

Up until that point, Argentina remained in the game and were highly competitive.

Tauriq Ebrahim rates the Argentinian players!

15 Joaquin Tuculet

His positional play snubbed a few Springbok chip-throughs and showed his attacking threat with a few big runs.

7/10

14 Ramiro Moyano

Picked off a neat intercept early in the game and then punished the Springboks for poor basics to "steal" a try and remained a massive attacking threat.

8/10

13 Matias Orlando

A mixed bag performance as he never saw much of the ball.

5/10

12 Jerónimo de la Fuente

Nothing too extravagant or exciting about his time on the park.

5/10

11 Emiliano Boffelli

May not have scored a try in this game but made a few telling runs to go with some accurate kicking at goal.

6/10

10 Juan Martin Hernandez

His execution in general play was not quite what the team needed but still managed to kick well enough to attempt to keep the Springboks pinned inside their half.

4/10

9 Tomas Cubelli

Did the basics well and provided his backline with some good service.

7/10

8 Juan Manuel Leguizamon

Carried strongly, his defence was satisfactory and the needless yellow card hurt his team.

4/10

7 Tomás Lezana

Did not compliment his fellow loose forwards and seemed to stand back to allow them to do the work.

4/10

6 Pablo Matera

One of the home side's standout players as he stuck some big tackles and worked hard at the breakdowns.

7/10

5 Tomas Lavanini

Pretty sure he has more cards than caps. If Argentina wants to improve, they need such players to remain in the stands.

0/10

4 Matías Alemanno

Was forced to put in a long shift as he lost his starting lock partner and stood up quite well to the opposition threat.

6/10

3 Ramiro Herrera

Had a hard time in the scrums and his defensive effort was shocking.

2/10

2 Augustin Creevy (captain)

His attacking threat was subdued but his defence and breakdown work remains something to behold.

6/10

1 Lucas Noguera

Defensively solid but had a bit of a torrid time in the scrums.

5/10

Replacements:

16 Julian Montoya (on for Creevy, 57th min)

Had big shoes to fill and gave a performance that leaves much to be desired.

4/10

17 Santiago García Botta

Not used.

18 Enrique Pieretto (on for Herrera, 50th min)

Came onto the field when his team was under the pump but never stood up to the challenge to make an impact.

3/10

19 Marcos Kremer (on for Matera, 58th min)

Hid nicely during his extended run on the field.

2/10

20 Javier Desio (on for Lezana, 50th min)

Epitomised Argentina's lack of depth as he was simply a number on the field.

1/10

21 Martín Landajo (on for Cubelli, 57th min)

Brought some renewed energy around the fringes and remains a threat with those sniping runs he enjoys.

7/10

22 Nicolas Sanchez (on for Hernandez, 57th min)

Seemed more comfortable than Hernandez and proved why he is their best option in the flyhalf role.

6/10

23 Matthias Moroni (on for Moyano, 57th min)

Immediate impact off the bench as his blistering runs got his side on the front foot.

7/10
