Player ratings: Gran trabajo
OPINION: Argentina put a huge dent in South Africa's Rugby Championship hopes with a commanding 32-19 win in Mendoza on Saturday.
Jan de Koning rates the Argentinean players!
15 Emiliano Boffelli:
Maybe not the most clinical on defence, but solid under the high ball and always a danger with ball in hand. Made plenty of metres.
6/10
14 Bautista Delguy:
Showed just how dangerous he can be with ball in hand - not just scoring two tries, but also exposing the Springbok defence. His defence needs some work.
7/10
13 Matías Moroni:
Easily dealt with the Bok raids and asked some serious questions with ball in hand.
7/10
12 Bautista Ezcurra:
Probably the most erratic of the Argentinean backs, but made heaps of tackles and kept the powerful Andre Esterhuizen in check.
6/10-
11 Ramiro Moyano:
Stood his ground on defence, despite the Boks going down his wing regularly. He also exposed the Boks' defence out wide.
6/10
10 Nicolás Sánchez:
Another masterclass in flyhalf play. The difference between the two sides. His game management was from the top shelve again and his inside pass for Delguy's try was a thing of beauty that exposed Bok defensive frailties. He even added a drop-goal.
9/10
9 Gonzalo Bertranou:
His service was quick and crisp, while he contributed heartily on defence.
7/10
8 Javier Ortega Desio:
Massive carries that saw him make plenty of metres, strong on defence and even winning a turnover.
7/10
7 Marcos Kremer:
Great early turnover to win penalty for his team and made plenty of tackles. Despite his impressive workrate he also missed too many tackles.
5/10
6 Pablo Matera:
He was powerful at the breakdown, effectively slowing down the Bok ball, and sublime with ball in hand. He did concede a few penalties.
7/10
5 Tomás Lavanini:
Had a massive game on defence and did not slip a single tackle. Played with passion and was a rock at the breakdown.
6/10
4 Guido Petti:
Troubled Bok line-out, with a brilliant line-out steal at crucial time. However, missed too many tackles and still conceding too many penalties.
6.5/10
3 Juan Figallo:
Powerful in the scrums in the first half and made heaps of tackles.
6/10
2 Agustín Creevy (captain):
Produced a masterclass in hooker play. He was everywhere and involved in everything - slowing the game down (sometimes illegally) in a masterful way.
8/10
1 Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro:
Like his fellow prop he scrummed well in the first half and did a mountain of work on defence.
6/10
Replacements:
16 Facundo Bosch (on for Creevy, 77th min):
Not enough time to be rated.
17 Santiago García Botta (on for Chaparro, 64th min):
His scrumming was weak and his workrate poor.
5/10
18 Santiago Medrano (on for Figallo, 69th min):
Not enough time to be rated.
19 Matias Alemanno (on for Lavanini, 72nd min):
Not enough time to be rated.
20 Tomás Lezana (on for Matera, 69th min):
Won a crucial turnover on his own line when the Boks were inches from scoring. Massive momentum swing. His tackle count for his 20 minutes on the field was into the double figures.
7/10
21 Tomás Cubelli (on for Bertranou, 70th min):
Not enough time to be rated.
22 Jerónimo de la Fuente (on for Moyano, 58th min):
Had a few decent runs, but otherwise little impact.
5/10
23 Juan Cruz Mallia (on for Ezcurra, 80th min):
Not enough time to be rated.
