#RWC2023 - Boks rated third-best to lift trophy

STAT ATTACK: The Springboks are rated third-best to secure the 2023 World Cup in France.

According to Opta stats, the current champions have a 20.5 percent chance of winning their fourth title.

The Boks are rated behind Ireland and the hosts France.

Ireland emerged with the highest probability of winning. Using Opta data, Andy Farrell's men have been handed a  21.7 percent chance. The No.1 ranked side has yet to secure a Webb Ellis trophy.

The Irish are ahead of France (21.4 percent), while New Zealand come in fourth with a 20.5 percent chance.

Ireland and the Springboks are in the same World Cup pool and they will lock horns on September 23, while France will take on the All Blacks on September 8 in the opening match of the World Cup.

The top four teams, who are set to battle it out in the quarterfinals, are well clear of fifth-place Argentina who has been allocated 5.7 chance of securing the trophy.

The 2019 runners-up England have been given a 4.4 percent and Eddie Jones’ Wallabies have been given a mere three percent chance of holding the trophy at the end of the tournament.
