Barnes praised for Wallaby win
Australia's coach Robbie Deans and captain David Pocock both praised the contribution of flyhalf Berrick Barnes in the side's victory over Wales.
Barnes had a strong game in the No.10 jersey, which has been a hot topic in Australia in the absence of pivot Quade Cooper and with injuries to playmakers James O'Connor and Kurtley Beale.
Barnes was accurate both with his kicking out of hand and for goal, with some neat handling skills to complete the package.
"I'm really proud of the guys efforts tonight [Saturday]," Deans said.
"Berrick was very good tonight, you heard the affirmation for these guys.
'They (Wales) are a fit side, it’s going to be a good series that's for sure.
"We know what’s going to be coming next week, another hell of a fight."
Pocock weighed in with his own praise for the flyhalf who played such a big part in the flank's first victory as Wallabies captain.
"I thought Will and Berrick played really well," he said.
"We just got the ball in their half and then fought hard.
"It was great to get the first win, we were up against a classy Welsh side."
