Cooper situation needs to ‘cool off’

The Australian Rugby Union will wait until after the conclusion of the Rugby Championship to address the Quade Cooper saga.

ARU chief executive John O'Neill said in the light of the injured flyhalf’s criticism of the Wallaby team environment and tactics ''a cooling off period'' was necessary to adequately address the issue.

O'Neill intends to talk to Cooper and his management following the Wallabies' final Rugby Championship match against Argentina in Rosario on Saturday. '

'Hopefully this will give everyone time to properly think through the situation,'' O'Neill told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Whilst coach Robbie Deans has brushed off Cooper’s criticism, it’s believed the playmaker’s Twitter tirade has infuriated a number of his national teammates, who hope to discuss the situation with O'Neill.

Cooper has a contract with the Reds, where he said he is encouraged to play his natural attacking game, but will be to play for the franchise without an ARU contract.
