Ireland dealt double blow

Ireland will be without Keith Earls and Chris Henry in Saturday's Test against Australia in Dublin.

Earls is still struggling with a knee injury while Henry sustained a hamstring injury in the 40-9 thumping of Samoa at the weekend.

Coach Joe Schmidt has therefore called up Leinster duo Shane Jennings and Luke Fitzgerald ahead of this weekend’s encounter with the Wallabies.

In some good news for the Irish, flyhalf Jonathan Sexton is expected to make his return after sitting out the game against Samoa.

“Unfortunately, Chris suffered a hamstring tear and Shane Jennings has been called in as a replacement,” team manager Mick Kearney said on Monday.

“Jonny Sexton rested and rehabbed over the weekend and is expected to train fully and available for selection for the weekend.

"Keith has been slow to settle and won't be available this week. He will continue to be monitored."
