Player ratings: Foley express
Flyhalf Bernard Foley was unstoppable on the night as he scored 28 of his side's 33 points while he was ably supported by a ridiculously brilliant No.8 David Pocock and a dominant scrum.
The result leaves Australia top of Pool A and are assured of a place in the quarterfinals with their final match against Wales, on October 10, will determine who tops the Pool.
Tauriq Ebrahim rates the Australian players!
A generally quite game after numerous handling errors in the first half but broke the advantage line with almost every carry.
4/10
14 Adam Ashley-Cooper
Saw very little of the ball but when he did, he got his side on the front foot with close to 10 metre per carry.
6/10
13 Tevita Kuridrani
Exposed in defence but had some strong carries in a fairly average performance
4/10
Looked to make an impact with ball-in-hand and certainly came into his own in the second half.
6/10
11 Rob Horne
Left the field after 10 minutes with an injured arm. Not enough time to be rated.
10 Bernard Foley
Controlled matters with exceptional decision making and quite simply ran the show. His only blemish was a missed tackle in the 57th minute which allowed England to score.
9/10
9 Will Genia
Allowed his flyhalf to dictate the game with brisk, clean and service of the highest quality while being a real Jack Russell on defence.
8/10
8 David Pocock
The turn-over machine was at it once again as he proved to be the thorn in England's side.
9/10
Although he did well all over the park, it's hard not to look past his ill-discipline when flew in with his shoulder into Mike Brown's head. Although, he got a taste of his own medicine from Sam Burgess late in the game.
2/10
6 Scott Fardy
Went quietly about his business as he complemented the rest of the forward pack on defence and at scrum time.
6/10
5 Rob Simmons
Offered very little in attack but performed his defensive duty admirably.
5/10
4 Kane Douglas
Huge defensive effort by the lanky lock but his attacking game needs a lot of work.
5/10
Shocked everyone with an impressive offload but showed his power at scrum time and on defence.
6/10
2 Stephen Moore (captain)
Provided the perfect anchor at scrum time and lead his team from the front throughout his time on the field.
7/10
1 Scott Sio
Completely dominated the scrum and although he may not have offered much with ball in hand, his defensive work was flawless.
6/10
Replacements:
16 Tatafu Polota-Nau (on for Moore, 65 mins)
Pretty much a passenger for his 15 minutes, although he continued the excellent scrum work of his captain.
4/10
17 James Slipper (on for Sio, 56 mins)
Tried to impose himself with ball-in-hand and put in a massive effort at scrum time late in the game.
5/10
18 Greg Holmes (on for Kepu, 56 mins)
Failed to fill the big shoes left by Kepu in his brief moment on the field.
4/10
19 Dean Mumm (on for Simmons, 65 mins)
Couldn't really get going with just 15 minutes on the park
5/10
20 Ben McCalman (on for Fardy, 76 mins)
Not enough time to be rated.
21 Nick Phipps (on for Genia, 61 mins)
Slowed the game down and took forever to get it away from the breakdowns which put his side on the backfoot for a few minutes.
3/10
22 Matt Toomua (on for Folau, 65 mins)
Did not see much of the time during his time on the field.
4/10
23 Kurtley Beale (on for Horne, 11 mins)
Came looking for work and did his usual stepping antics while his interplay with Foley was simply magnificent.
7/10
