Quade: Just young guys having fun

Wallaby flyhalf Quade Cooper, who has just re-signed with the Reds for three years, dismissed his clash with police as 'just young guys having fun'.

Cooper, who will remain in Australia until the 2015 World Cup, said he and Wallaby teammate Kurtley Beale were "just out doing what young blokes do".

The duo became involved in an incident with security staff at a Brisbane hotel early on Thursday morning, which resulted in police being called out to the scene.

"We were out playing a bit of pool and things have escalated from there," Cooper told Fox Sports.

"There's not much that I can comment about on that subject. But I'm sure it will all come out over the next few days.

"We were just out doing what young blokes do. I'm sure it will all come out soon."

Cooper, in the same television interview, also announced that he had signing an extension of his contract with the defending Super Rugby champions.

"I'm just thrilled to have my future settled for the next three years," Cooper told Fox Sports.

"I'm really enjoying my time here, I'm in a good place at the moment and I'm enjoying where the Reds are going as an organisation and as a team."

Cooper said the risk of re-injuring his knee was too high by playing in the current three-Test series against Wales and he was targeting a Super Rugby return against the in Melbourne on June 29.

The mercurial Cooper ruptured knee ligaments in the World Cup play-off for third place against the Welsh seven months ago and has played only 120 minutes for the Reds in two matches since the surgery.

Cooper, who has been involved in several previous off-field controversies, added: "Rumours are always going to be out there, whether it be about us playing, whether it be about us out and about.

"Those are things that we can't change and that's the life that we live in. We've got to just get on with the job at hand and train hard and hopefully play some good footy."

The troubled Wallaby had been out celebrating his signing of a three-year deal with the Reds which will keep him in rugby until the next World Cup in England in 2015.

"Me and KB, we were out, had a bite to eat and stuff like that," he said.

Cooper revealed a possible switch to rugby league had been something that was "very much in the frame".

"I was quite interested in it and likewise my management," he said.

"But I felt that staying with the Reds was the right thing for me to do at this point in time and we'll just organise sorting out the ARU side of it. But I'm really enjoying rugby and I think we've got a very bright future here. I'm just thrilled to have my future settled for the next three years and hopefully all the rest will be put behind me, get out and play some good footy, and I'm sure KB's looking to do the same."
