The news is of massive significance to Australian rugby on the eve of a blockbuster clash between the Reds and Waratahs at Lang Park on Saturday night.
McReight, Harry Wilson, Matt Faessler and Lukhan Salakaia-Loto have now all inked new deals over the past three weeks in a strong vote for the quality of the rugby program being run by the Reds.
The 26-year-old McReight has hit the new season in strong form after a stellar 2024 in which he was named the Australian Super Rugby Pacific Player of the Year for the second straight season.
He also received the Pilecki Medal, on the vote of his peers, as the Reds' best player and received the RUPA Medal for Excellence.
McReight played eight Tests for the Wallabies in 2024 and stamped himself as a world-class openside flanker.
He combines a tremendous work ethic with tenacity at the breakdown, strong ball-carrying skills and the link play of the very best.
A product of the Australian Rugby pathways, McReight was an Albany Creek Brumbies junior and was educated at Brisbane Grammar, where he was selected for the Australian Schools side in 2016.
He went on to captain the Junior Wallabies to their first Oceania Under-20s title in 2019 and to the Final of the World Under-20 Championships in Argentina later that year.
McReight made his Super Rugby debut for the Reds that same year against the Brumbies at Lang Park and received his first cap for the Wallabies in 2020 against the All Blacks in Sydney, becoming Wallaby No.937.
He has represented the Reds on 77 occasions and has been capped 25 times for the Wallabies.
