Wallaby wing escapes sanction

Wallaby wing Cooper Vuna will be available for selection in this weekend's third Test against Wales after avoiding suspension by rugby officials on Monday.

Vuna was yellow carded by referee Chris Pollock for making a dangerous mid-air tackle on Wales fullback Leigh Halfpenny during Australia's 25-23 series-clinching win in Melbourne on Saturday.

He was cited after the match and judicial officer Bruce Squire found him guilty of tackling a player in the air.

But he concluded there were significant and compelling mitigating factors, including a lack of intent on Vuna's part, and he did not deserve further punishment.

The finding means the player will be available for the final Test in Sydney on Saturday, with the Wallabies expected to name their side Tuesday.
