The smallest winning margin was 19 points. In fact the average difference between victory and defeat was 32 points!

England's massive 53-0 victory up in Edinburgh adds greatly to the making of the difference.

In the only change to the French side of the week before, injured Gabrielle Vernier is replaced by Marie-Aurélie Castel.

Six tries to one probably tells the story. Italy in fact were full of effort in the first half though France ended it leading 24-10 but it was all France in the second half, which they won 21-0.

Because of the wild weather, the match was moved from Scotstoun in Glasgow to Murrayfield a day later.

England started each half with a quick try - the first by prop Sarah Bern who crashed over after three minutes in the first half. England led 22-0 at half time and three minutes into the second half when Emily Scott threaded her way over for the first of her two tries.

Wales attacked first, but Ireland survived and then set up their own attack and the first try of the match by teenager Beibhinn Parsons.

By half-time Ireland led 17-5, Wales's try coming just before the break when fullback Lauren Smyth nipped over in the left corner.

Wales got to 24-12 with over half-an-hour to play but then only other score was the penalty try that ended the match, as Ireland shoved Wales rapidly backwards.

The weather made it a tough afternoon for the players, as it got colder and colder as the final whistle approached.
