Wilson set for neck surgery
The 29-year-old Bath tighthead will miss England's remaining four fixtures, but will return in time for England's World Cup training camp.
"David has seen the specialist and will be out for the Six Nations," Lancaster said.
"He's booked in for an operation tomorrow [Friday] that will relieve his nerve impingement. He'll be out for 10-12 weeks.
"It is really unfortunate for Davey [Wilson] and disappointing for us to lose him for the Six Nations.
"However it was agreed surgery was the best solution to get this issue cleared up."
Bath coach Mike Ford said they are also disappointed for Wilson.
"Following his operation, he'll return to the club to commence his rehabilitation," Ford said.
"His return will be based on his progress during rehab, but our medical and rehab team are confident he will be back playing for Bath before the end of the season."
