Clermont snag Tigers' Wallaby

Clermont's sporting director Franck Azema explained that the recruitment of the twice-capped Betham, 28, was aimed at cushioning the blow of likely losing outside backs to France duty during the year.

Betham's ability to play centre and wing means he will provide cover for centres Remi Lamerat and Wesley Fofana, Fiji-born wing Noa Nakaitaci, and even the up-and-coming Damian Penaud, called up to the France squad for the June tour to South Africa.

Clermont's Kiwi centre Benson Stanley moves on to Pau next season.
