Racing rest Carter with eye on Euro semi

The 34-year-old, capped 112 times for the All Blacks and Test rugby's world record points scorer, injured his right knee in a tackle in the nail-biting 19-16 quarterfinal victory over defending champions Toulon on the weekend.

Carter handed over kicking duties to halfback partner Maxime Machenaud, but remained on the field until the final whistle.

The flyhalf will very likely be rested for the Top 14 clash at Toulouse on Sunday.

Several other players also missed Wednesday's training including centres Alexandre Dumoulin, Henry Chavancy and Casey Laulala, utility back Johan Goosen and prop Ben Tameifuna.

Racing skipper Dimitri Szarzewski has already been ruled out of the Euro semifinal in Nottingham with a knee injury.
