Six Nations B, Round 2

Round 1 raised some eyebrows when Portugal beat Romania, which means that Russia, bound for the World Cup though they are, cannot take the Lobos lightly. But then the match is in Moscow.

Georgia are likely to be too strong for Spain but one cannot see Ukraine standing up to Romania, even in Kiev. In fact the Moscow match looks to be the closest contested.

Russia vs Portugal

It's hard to see Russia losing this match despite Portugal's good showing last week. The Russians have been to many places in their preparation for the world cup, which means they have had several warm-up games as they head to the first Rugby World Cup they have attended.

Alex Panasenko, Nikita Medkov, Ivan Prishchepenko, Oleg Kobzev, Kirill Kushnarev and Alexei Shcherbanhave been added to the squad. But hooker Vladislav Korshunov  is doubtful.

Portugal have aldso added to their traianing squad - Jacques le Roux, Carl Murray, João Mateus and Fernando Almeida - but there were few changes from the team that beat the Oaks in Lisbon. The only players missing are scrumhalf José Pinto and flank Vasco Uva.
