WATCH: Swys hints at big plan for World Cup 2025

WATCH: If Swys de Bruin has his way, the Springbok Women will certainly be one of the contenders at next year's World Cup in England.

Former Springbok men's assistant coach De Bruin joined the women's set-up as performance coach in August, and since then, the team has undergone a rapid transformation.

The Springbok Women, with a class coaching team that includes Bafana Nhleko, Laurian Johannes-Haupt, and Franzel September, have sent a stern warning to the women's game.

In the last few weeks, the side has claimed wins over star-laden Barbarians, Spain and Japan.

They also came close to snatching a draw against the top-ranked Australia in the WXV 2 Round Two clash.

The Bok Women take on Italy this Saturday in the final round of the WXV 2.

A win over Italy will make sure the Bok Women return to 11 on the World Rankings.

It will also give the team a chance to dissect their plans for the World Cup and end the season on a high.

"It is the end of the beginning," said coach De Bruin.

"This WXV 2 was only the start. We have a few processes in place and the big work is yet to come.

"We have shown the players the program going forward right up until the 2025 World Cup in England.

"So, they all know it’s going to be massive."

De Bruin has placed emphasis on strength and conditioning for next year's showpiece.

The World Cup draw is set to take place next week, with the match schedule subsequently released on Tuesday, October 22.

"You have your micro plan for Saturday, which is a building block.

"There are certain things we want to achieve."

He explained: "Our defence coach wants to see if we can stop their [Italy’s] layer attack because we have to do that in the World Cup.

"The scrums we still want to take to the next level, mauling we want to make sure that we are ready.

"We will try to look at it this weekend.

"But for the World Cup, there is still a lot to be done, especially from a strength and conditioning point of view.

"We want to make every position stronger and better."

The coach also took the time to thank the media and organizer for their efforts in growing the game throughout the WXV 2 tournament.

"Every week you guys come out and support us, take pictures and put us out there.

"So from my side thank you to all the press. It is wonderful to have you behind us and at the game."

"It has been a great privilege and thank you to the organizers as well."
