All Blacks coach Steve Hansen said Crotty, who limped off in the first half, had suffered a hamstring injury.

Moala exited in the second half clutching the same elbow that forced him to take a four-week layoff earlier in the season.

"Ryan pulled a hamstring, George his elbow," Hansen said following his team's 29-40 loss to Ireland.

"Both of them probably look gone for the tour."

There was no word on who may be called up to replace the duo.

New Zealand face further Tests against Italy, Ireland and France when they head to Europe following the loss in Chicago.
