Carter in doubt for Cardiff clash

All Black flyhalf Dan Carter is in doubt for Saturday’s encounter against Wales in Cardiff after pulling up with a leg injury in training.

All Black coach Steve Hansen confirmed that Carter felt a twinge in his right leg during training and it appears unlikely that the playmaker will feature against the Six Nations Grand Slam champions.

Aaron Cruden, who wore the No.10 jersey against Italy last weekend, will start at flyhalf should Carter be unavailable.

There’s also concern over Aaron Smith’s fitness; the scrumhalf came through training but left with an ice pack on the knee he injured against the Azzurri.

Beauden Barrett is also struggling with a rib injury and like Carter, is unlikely to be available, leaving the All Blacks thin in the flyhalf department.

Veteran scrumhalf Piri Weepu will likely provide pivot cover on the bench.
