June 24 - The day that united a country

The day will always be remembered for the impact it had on bringing together a nation, as the Francois Pienaar-led Springboks lifted the Webb Ellis trophy for the first time in South Africa's history.

The iconic celebrations at Ellis Park came off the back of a 15-12 victory over the All Blacks, where the likes of the late Joost van der Westhuizen and James Small stopped the juggernaut that was the late Jonah Lomu.

Who can ever forget the Van der Westhuizen dive pass to Joel Stransky, who slotted a drop goal which proved to be the killer blow?

President Nelson Mandela, wearing a Springbok jersey with Pienaar's number six on the back, presented the captain with the trophy, which - to this day - remains one of the most iconic sporting moments of all time.
