Redelinghuys gets SARPA job

rugby365 can reveal that Redelinghuys, who is still recovering from surgery following a neck fracture, is one of two new additions to the South African Rugby Players' Association executive committee.

The other is also a prop, Southern Kings front row forward Schalk Ferreira.

The two were elected onto the executive committee at the SARPA AFM last month.

Pumas scrumhalf Kevin Luiters was elected as vice-president of SARPA at the AGM.

There is still a cloud of uncertainty over Redelinghuys' career, following neck surgery last year.

He fractured his neck while playing for the Golden Lions against the Free State Cheetahs in the Currie Cup semifinal in October.

The surgery has been successful, but it will be months before there is any indication if Redelinghuys will be able o play again.

* Meanwhile it has also been confirmed that the commercial payments for the 2016 season will be made by SARPA to the players during February. Approximately 700 players will receive payments from the commercial use of their images.
