Blue Bulls catch a Hare
Leopards Chief Executive Eugene Hare will join the Blue Bulls Rugby Union on June 15 to head up the amateur part of the union.
Hare will take up the post as CEO: Blue Bulls Rugby Union and will replace Andre Both, who is retiring from the position in charge of the club, schools and other amateur activities of the BBRU.
Hare has successfully established himself as CEO of the Leopards, and will be quite a change after a long career in Potchefstroom, where he represented the Leopards as player, coach and administrator.
Hare wasn't only the scrumhalf and captain of the Leopards in his playing days, running out 176 times for the union and captaining them 129 times, but was also coach of the Under-13 Craven Week team; the Leopards A team and the U19 side during his time.
According to press release from the Blue Bulls union he will bring his wealth of experience to the and will help elevate the status of club and schools rugby in the region, as well as focusing on furthering the development programme in both the Blue Bulls and Limpopo regions.
Blue Bulls Rugby Union president, Louis Nel, said he is excited about the input Hare will give.
"We are privileged to have someone of Eugene's stature joining us. His ability and work ethic is well known and he will be of great value to our structures. We welcome him with open arms and is looking forward to the contributions he will make," Nel said.
