Boks rally behind Dricus du Plessis
WATCH as Springboks stars show their support for South Africa’s Dricus du Plessis, as he prepares to challenge the USA’s Sean Strickland for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight title.
Du Plessis faces Strickland for the Middleweight title at UFC 297 in Toronto, Canada on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
Hailing from Pretoria, Du Plessis is the country's most illustrious professional mixed martial artist and his support for the Springboks is unmatched.
Loud and proud, the South African was famously in the stands at the World Cup 2023 final, making himself heard alongside the likes of Jason Momoa, Rita Ora and Novak Djokovic, some of whom were very quiet by the time South Africa lifted the Webb Ellis Cup for the second time in succession.
And now a couple of months later, Du Plessis is set to enter the octagon in Canada in what he labelled as his own World Cup during an interview with Jim Hamilton on Rugbypass TV.
