Griquas to take action after referee abuse

NEWS: The Griquas Rugby Referees' Management team issued a statement condemning an incident of abuse involving one of their "esteemed female referees", Cameron Dyers.

The incident took place at a tournament for Under-15 and U17 for boys this past weekend in Kimberley.

Dyers is described as a "dedicated and respected member" of the refereeing team.

The Griquas Rugby Referees Management came out in full support of Dyers after the incident.

"We are committed to ensuring her well-being and providing any necessary assistance as she recovers from this distressing experience," said a statement.

The Griqualand West Rugby Union and Referees management will take decisive action in response to this incident as they feel that "abuse of referees will not be tolerated in our sport".

They also stated that referees "deserve respect and protection" and that they are "committed to fostering a safe and respectful environment for all officials and participants in the game".
