The Springboks and their 'secret sauce'

SPOTLIGHT: The Springboks have a "secret sauce" that sets them apart from other international teams.

That was the view of Michael R. Yormark, who is the President of Roc Nation Sports International.

There are few Springbok players under the Roc Nation banner with Bok captain Siya Kolisi being the most notable one.

Cheslin Kolbe is also a client and Yormark recently joined the Springbok flyer for a visit to his old primary school in Kraaifontein.

It was there that Yormark saw first-hand what the recent World Cup victory meant for the country.

"It is just amazing to see the impact of what this World Cup has meant to South Africa," Yormark told rugby365com.

"We are at Cheslin's school and to see the inspiration and the hope and the motivation that he has created for all these students is incredible. That is what this victory means.

"I always tell people around the world that the Springboks play with a purpose that no one else does and I am experiencing that first-hand right now and it is amazing."

On that "purpose", Yormark added: "I don't think most other nations and their rugby teams play with the same type of purpose that the Springboks do and I think that is their secret sauce," Yormark explained.

"When you are playing for 60 million people and you trying to inspire, motivate and create hope for a nation it elevates you to another level.

"I don’t think we see that with other teams around the world."

The story continues below...

Yormark believes Springboks' story is something that can transcend borders.

"As it relates to the Springboks and how they may be inspiring around the world, I think there is a great opportunity there and I think the Springboks need to take this story and they need to bring it around the world to inspire and motivate. Very similar to the way we’ve tried to tell Siya's and Cheslin's story outside of South Africa, beyond your borders.

"It's a great opportunity if you think about where the world is today.

"We came out of Covid, there is a war in Ukraine, there is a war in the Middle East. How do we collectively find ways to inspire, motivate and create hope?

"The Springboks have the opportunity to do that right now."
