On Tuesday, a spokesman for SARU confirmed to @rugby365com that a break-in occurred on Monday night.

The break-in happened at the ground floor level of the offices at Plattekloof headquarters.

It was reported that the ground floor units of the complex at Plattekloof – which also houses SARU offices – were ransacked.

However, trophies – which include four replicas of the Webb Ellis Cup – were not stolen as it is stored in a safe on the upper levels.

Every time a country wins the World Cup, they are given a replica of the Webb Ellis Cup to keep.
