Vermeulen ruled out of Series decider

"Duane went for a MRI/CT scan on Monday, which revealed a grade two tear in the elbow. He will be out for between two to six weeks, depending on how the injury responds to treatment," explained Dr Konrad von Hagen, the Springbok medical doctor.

The Bok team management confirmed that no replacement will be called up.

Warren Whiteley, who replaced Vermeulen in the second half, did not take any contact during Monday's training session after he took a blow to his AC joint. His scans also revealed no damage to the shoulder area.

Prop Trevor Nyakane also went for x-rays on Monday, which showed that his sore ankle was normal except for some swelling and he will be assessed again on Tuesday while centre Damian de Allende sat out the afternoon session because of a stomach bug.

The Springboks are currently in Port Elizabeth preparing for their third Test against Ireland. The Series is currently level at 1-1 after Ireland won the first Test in Cape Town while the Springboks hit back to claim the second Test.
