Toulouse hooker extends stay

NEWS: Toulouse and France hooker Peato Mauvaka has extended his stay with the French giants for a further three years until 2029.

Toulouse announced the extension after winning the Top 14 title.

Mauvaka had an excellent Top 14 Final - scoring a try and having another ruled out after a video replay in their 59-3 rout against Bordeaux.

Toulouse extended their title-winning record by claiming a 23rd domestic title and a third double by claiming the Top 14 and Champions Cup in one season - which was won back in May.

Mauvaka's contact extension announcement was accompanied on Toulouse's social networks by a photo of Mauvaka and club president Didier Lacroix smoking cigars and wearing sunglasses in front of the Brennus shield in Marseille's Velodrome Stadium.

Mauvaka played in 20 matches this season consisting of 14 starts and scoring 10 tries.

The 33-time capped Test hooker was ahead of another international hooker - Julien Marchand in the hierarchy for the final stages of the Top 14 and Champions Cup competitions.

The New Caledonia native spent his entire career at Toulouse and won Top 14 titles in 2019,2021,2023 and 2024 with Champions Cup success in 2021 and 2024.
