Feeling the heat

All Blacks flank Liam Messam has had to deal with plenty of abuse on twitter in the last week.

Messam was floored by Bismarck du Plessis' forearm at Eden Park on Saturday, which saw the Bok hooker sent off for a second yellow card, and this clearly did not sit well with Springbok fans who took to twitter to give the All Blacks loose forward a piece of their mind.

Messam reacted after the game by suggesting that he had learnt his lesson and added that he will try and tackle lower in the future.

"Thanks for the hate coming out of SA, it is what it is, Lesson learnt tackle low," he tweeted.

However, this appears to have further incensed Bok supporters, which prompted Messam to admit that Du Plessis had been hard done by in the decision to send him off.

"Dear SA supporters I understand your frustrations and I agree that the big man was hard done by, he's a awesome player and one of the best," he tweeted.

This was apparently not enough for some fans who saw fit to continue the abuse, bringing Messam's young son into the issue for some reason.

"I can take all the s+*| coming my way, but there's no need to bring my son into this no need for that #haveagoodday," Messam tweeted.
