Season-ending injury for Todd

Two-test All Blacks flank Matt Todd will sit out the rest of the year after undergoing surgery on a torn pectoral muscle.


Todd, 25, suffered the injury during Canterbury's NPC loss to Wellington last Saturday and surgery was recommended following a diagnosis this week.


A recovery period of up to six months means the openside is no chance of being selected on New Zealand's season-ending tour of Japan and Europe.


He could also miss the start of the Crusaders' Super Rugby campaign in February.


Todd made his Test debut this year, coming off the bench in games against France at New Plymouth in June and South Africa in Auckland this month.


* Meanwhile Hawke's Bay captain Mike Coman is leaving New Zealand at the end of the NPC season.


Coman signed a two-year deal to play for Edinburgh in the Pro12.
