Serfontein sidelined

Springbok and Bulls centre Jan Serfontein will not be available for the last round of Super Rugby after he picked up a knee injury in their 20-19 win over the Sharks.

Bulls team doctor Org Strauss confirmed that the centre will only be available for the Bulls if they win their play-off game in two weeks.

He was the only casualty in the Bulls win as they move ahead of the Chiefs into the top place on the Super Rugby log.

The centre has had an incredible season in his first stint at international rugby. He has been insiprational on attack and it lead to him receiving a call-up to the Springbok side for the four-nations series with Scotland, Italy and Samoa.

There are no other serious injury concerns for the Pretoria franchise but a few of the players skipped training on Monday to recover from bumps and bruises.

Jacques Potgieter (hand), Akona Ndungane (hamstring), Mornè Mellett (neck), Wilhelm Steenkamp (neck), Ulrich Beyers (flu) and Hencus van Wyk (neck) all missed training on Monday due to minor ailments.

Cornell Hess (knee), Lionel Mapoe (shoulder), Arno Botha (knee), Pierre Spies (bicep) and Louis Fouchè are all long-term injuries.

Although it was understood that lock Paul Willemse would be back at training this week he has not been listed in the latest bulletin.
