Wasps ready for final sting

London Wasps go into their potential "winner-takes-all" Challenge Cup showdown against Bayonne at Adams Park on Thursday knowing if they can do the double over the French club it could well be quarterfinal make for them and last eight break for Bayonne.

The 13-all draw Wasps snatched at Stade Jean Dauger means Dai Young's team go into the quick-fire return on 12 points, one ahead of Bayonne, with only the group winner qualifying for the quarterfinals.

"I've said to the players that it's halfway now between us two and we need to finish it on Thursday with a win at home, " said Young.

"There is a lot we could be satisfied with but we've got to control the ball and control the field and be more accurate with our possession when we play at home.

"We spent a lot of time defending in our 22 and our defence was outstanding at times and we thoroughly deserved a draw. Right at the end we could have come away with a win but it wasn't to be.

"We made some silly mistakes in the first half which gave them good field position. We went in still quite confident at half-time even though they scored a try just before the break.

"We felt if we restricted them in how we were defending we could control the game and we did that in the second half."
