The Sables are coming
A triangular rugby tournament had been organised for this weekend in Windhoek with Spain, Zimbabwe and Namibia taking part.
There were doubts about Zimbabwe's participation but the IRB stepped in and will pay for their travel and accommodation. Zimbabwe, the most successful team in Africa in recent times, will take part. In fact they arrived in Windhoek on Wednesday. The tournament, sponsored by Windhoek Lager, will go ahead.
The fixtures are:
10 November: Namibia vs Zimbabwe
14 November: Spain vs Zimbabwe
17 November: Namibia vs Spain
.
Zimbabwe manager Losson Mtongwiza said: “It was very difficult to come up with this squad as competition was very high for positions. We eventually took 25 players. We will play Namibia on Saturday at 16.00 and Spain on 14 November at 18.00. The team will return on 16 November. We are very grateful to the International Rugby Board who have paid for travel and accommodation so that we can make the trip. This trip will be important in that we are getting a chance to play other teams that are ranked above us, Spain is ranked 20th in the world, while Namibia is ranked number 22.”
