Bosch for Vodacom Final
Phillip Bosch of Eastern Province has been appointed to referee the Final of the Vodacom Cup at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
This is a week after his Super 14 match between the Sharks and the Highlanders in Durban. That was his third Super 14 match.
Bosch had a good playing career and his refereeing career has gone to even greater heights since he started refereeing. As a player he played provincial rugby for Eastern Province in the pre-unity days from fullback to flyhalf.
Bosch has come up through the refereeing ranks, reaching provincial status in 2001. He has had experience in Super 14, Currie Cup and IRB tournaments. In 2007 he refereed at the Under-19 World Championship and then in 2008 at the inaugural Under-20 World Championship in Wales.
When Bosch's chairman, Frans Muller, the former Test referee, said of Bosch: "We are very proud of him. He's such a nice person and works hard for our Referees' Society."
Phillip Anthony Bosch was born in Port Elizabeth on 1 July 1970. He was educated at Paterson Senior secondary and then at the Dower College of Education where he qualified as a teacher. He now teaches at Charlo Primary School in Port Elizabeth.
