Brookes banned for pushing ref

Kieram Brookes has been suspended for six weeks after pleading guilty to a charge of acts contrary to good sportsmanship – contrary to law 10.4(m) at an RFU disciplinary hearing.

The Newcastle Falcons prop had been cited for physical abuse of a match official for recklessly pushing or otherwise making contact with referee Greg Garner in the Premiership match against Leicester Tigers at Kingston Park last Sunday, March 2.

His ban runs until April 20 and he is free to play again the following day.

The case was heard by a panel of Antony Davies (chairman), Samantha Hillas and Austin Newman.
