Ref change in Apia

Jaco Peyper flew to Samoa to take charge of his third successive Scotland match this weekend.

Chris Pollock, the New Zealand referee, was appointed to the match between Samoa and Scotland but has suffered an injury and has been forced to withdraw.

This is the third time in a month that Peyper, new to the IRB's merit panel, will have refereed a match involving Scotland. The first was in Newcastle, New South Wales, when Scotland beat Australia, the second in Lautoka when Scotland beat Fiji.

This weekend Peyper was to have been an assistant referee to Craig Joubert in Sydney when Australia played Wales in the third Test. Perhaps the Scots regard him as a good luck charm!
