Referees for Sevens, Day 1

Paddy O'Brien, World Rugby's manager of Sevens referees, has appointed the referees for the 24 matches on Day 1. Mike Adamson of Scotland blows the whistle to start the day and then several hours later the referee to end the day.

The matches will take place in newish Westpac Stadium in New Zealand's capital city and it is always a jolly occasion.

The referees for the tournament are Mike Adamson (Scotland), Nick Briant (New Zealand), Craig Joubert (South Africa), Richard Kelly (New Zealand), Anthony Moyes (Australia), Matt O'Brien (Australia), Rasta Rasivhenge (South Africa) and Marius van der Westhuizen (South Africa).

For all of them there is the carrot of a possible appointment to the Olympic Games later this year.
