Referees to 30 December
It is a season of goodwill, which does not preclude playing rugby, but there is just a little of it in figgy, icy Britain, and there are referees in the ice and the fog. No too much plum duff for them.
Several countries decide not to fight festivities and give rugby a break.
Edinburgh Accies has been celebrating the 150th birthday of the club and ends the celebrations at Raeburn Place on Hogmanay with a commemorative match. On 26 December 1857 the Accies played Edinburgh University. On 31 Decemeber 2007 the Accies will again play the University more or less to the same laws (or lawlessness) of 150 yrears ago when the match lasted four weeks. The teams will have 25 a-side.
Presumably, as then, there will not be a referee.
