Aussie coaching brain heads to Premiership

NEWS: The NSW Waratahs confirmed that assistant coach Jason Gilmore will depart the franchise to take up a position with Harlequins in the Premiership.

Gilmore joined the Waratahs as an assistant coach in 2020 from the Australian Under-20 program.

He also acted as interim head coach during the 2021 season and earned the opportunity to coach Australia A whilst at the Waratahs.

“The Waratahs would like to sincerely thank Jason for his tremendous efforts over the last five seasons,” CEO Paul Doorn said.

“He has been a great asset in the development of our players over his tenure and we wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.”

Gilmore thanked the Waratahs for an enjoyable five years at the club.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Waratahs and am grateful for the opportunity to be head coach of Australia A,” Gilmore said.

“From navigating the COVID times through to making the play offs in 2022-23 it has been a great experience.

“Beating the Crusaders and seeing the reaction of our supporters and players at a packed Leichardt Oval is a memory I’ll take with me.

“I’d like to thank the staff and the playing group for their support and wish the club nothing but the best for future.”
