Bulls sweating over Jake's health

NEWS: The Bulls might not have Director of Rugby Jake White with them at Rodney Parade in Newport when they face off against the Dragons in a United Rugby Championship Round 12 match on Friday.

It was confirmed that White has been struggling with a "common cold" since the team returned from Exeter, where they lost (14-44) to the Chiefs in Round Two of the Champions Cup back in December.

White felt 'well enough' to travel with the team to Newport, following two domestic derby losses to the Stormers and Sharks.

However, he again felt "a bit under the weather" on Tuesday and Wednesday.

"He is definitely on the mend and the time off will certainly help," a spokesman for the Bulls said Thursday.

The Bulls remain confident that White will recover enough to attend the match in Newport.

"However, if he is not feeling comfortable enough tomorrow [Friday] evening, then he may work from the hotel."

The Bulls, following the losses over the Christmas and New Year's weekends, dropped from second to fourth on the standings.

The Dragons and Bulls have only met once, with the latter beating the Welsh region 55-20 in Pretoria.

The Dragons' home form has improved this season, during which they have won three of their five matches in Newport.

The Bulls have had a reversal of fortunes in the last couple of rounds.

They have lost two on the bounce, both to South African franchises, after a four-match winning streak.
