Player Ratings: It hurts

The Wallabies struggled to contain a motivated Irish side in the first half. However, the visitors did come out fighting in the second half and came close to winning.

In the end, ill-discipline and a variety of mistakes proved costly for the Wallabies.

Warren Fortune rates the Australian players!

15 Israel Folau:

He was constantly looking for work on attack and he broke through the Irish defence a few times.

7/10

14 Dane Haylett-Petty:

He was once again Australia's best player on the field. He beat several defenders and racked up over 150 running metres as well.

8/10

13 Tevita Kuridrani:

The big centre came to life in the second half with some great runs and he scored a try as well.

7/10

12 Reece Hodge:

He got over the advantage line on a few occasions, but looked predictable most of the time.

6/10

11 Henry Speight:

It was a poor showing by the wing. He hardly had the ball and was a passenger for a large part of the game.

3/10

10 Bernard Foley:

He missed a few tackles and conceded a few turnovers. He also got a yellow card during a crucial part of the game.

5/10

9 Will Genia:

He is another who conceded a lot of turnover ball. His distribution was great but needed to do more than just pass.

6/10

8 David Pocock:

He made more tackled than any other player in his team and was a nuisance at the breakdown. However, he was quiet on attack

6/10

7 Michael Hooper:

He was outstanding in the physical exchanges and was the hardest working forward on the field.

7/10

6 Dean Mumm:

He did not some good work in the line-outs but was another player who let his team down by getting a yellow card.

5/10

5 Rob Simmons:

He was strong in the set piece and did his part on defence as well.

6/10

4 Rory Arnold:

The big man did not hold back in the physical exchanges and was a key figure in the set piece.

6/10

3 Sekope Kepu:

He was solid in the scrums and he put in a few big hits on defence. However, he did not do much in terms of carries.

6/10

2 Stephen Moore:

His line-out throwing was okay, but for a captain, he just did not do enough in open play.

6/10

1 Scott Sio:

Powerful in the scrums and solid on defence, but like Kepu his strength was needed on attack as well.

5/10
