Jones: Pressure to rise on young No.10s

Eddie Jones says judging Pat Lambie and Elton Jantjies's aptitude for Test rugby can only take place once opposition teams have properly analysed them.

The pair made their way in the initial rounds of a weakened Currie Cup last year, and continued that form with impressive performances once the senior Springboks returned to the competition.

They were hardly used on the Boks' November tour, and making a fair assessment was difficult due to the limited game-time at international level.

Lambie has again looked more convincing than Jantjies, but both players have struggled with their goal-kicking. Jones believes that although they have shown promising signs in general play early on in their careers, once sides work out ways to expose their weaknesses, they'll be truly tested.

In Jantjies's case, he hasn't even played against any Australasian opposition in the competition, while Lambie has just played one match at flyhalf, against the Blues this past weekend. Building up unnecessary hype at this stage of their careers could also be counter-productive.
