Peter Grant on The Bench

Stormers and Springbok flyhalf Peter Grant hung out on The Bench on Saturday - a new online-based sports and lifestyle show on 2Oceansviberadio which is co-hosted by Crispin Inglis and Howie Kahn.

Grant, who is currently nursing an ankle injury, shared his experiences of life in Japan (including all his karaoke singing!), what he missed most about home, the Stormers' injury woes at flyhalf this season and, of course, being under the watchful eye of Stormers backline coach Robbie Fleck!

Grant and Stormers scrumhalf Dewaldt Duvenage are both in doubt for the all important Newlands clash with the Bulls on Saturday.

Grant was sent home from New Zealand and while he was rated to have a 90 to 95 percent chance of facing the Bulls, the injury has not responded as well as was hoped and he is still doubtful for the Newlands derby.

The Stormers have played the last two matches with their fourth choice, Kurt Coleman, at flyhalf. However playing the Rebels in Melbourne and the Bulls in front of a sold out Newlands are an entirely different prospects, which is why the Stormers are hoping that Grant will make a miraculous recovery in time to face the Bulls.

Duvenage has not played since injuring his ankle near the end of the Stormers 16-3 win over the Brumbies in Canberra.

The 26-year-old Grant, who has played five Tests for the Springboks, remains hopeful of being part of South Africa's 2011 Rugby World Cup squad.
