PLAYER RATINGS: A bitter farewell
Scotland's high tempo game plan was just too much for the Aussies at the end of a long season.
The defeat is extra painful for hooker Stephen Moore, who confirmed that the clash was his last professional game as both a Test and club Rugby Union player.
Robert Seltzer rates the Australian players!
1 Scott Sio
Won a penalty at the scrum but there were not a lot of them in the first half. Scottish front row was replaced at half time. Offered himself as a ball runner but wasn’t used much
7/10
2 Stephen Moore
Solid end to his Illustrious career. A couple of wobbly throws at the lineout. Worked hard at ruck time both defensively and with ball
6/10
3 Sekope Kepu
Deservedly sent off for a shoulder charge to the head in the first half.
3/10
4 Rob Simmons
Need to see more when he is the senior second row.
5/10
5 Blake Enever
Bit of a nothing performance. Needs to do better at the lineout if going to have a big International career
5/10
6 Ben McCalman
Good cover and more powerful than Hannigan, went very quiet in the 2nd half
6/10
7 Michael Hooper
A quiet performance from the Captain, Scottish back row certainly more dominant.
6/10
8 Sean McMahon
Always powerful with ball in hand and made some crunching tackles. Australia’s best forward.
7/10
9 Will Genia
Missed a couple of tackles early on, prevented a try after that though. Rushed out of the line and was picked off for Gray’s try as well. Didn’t hit the heights of previous performances on tour.
6/10
10 Bernard Foley
Poor pass led to an early try but recovered well. Great little chip for Kuridrani’s 1st try and vision for his second.
7/10
11 Reece Hodge
Australia didn’t have enough ball but like Koroibete, didn’t make work for himself.
5/10
12 Samu Kerevi
Didn’t see much ball in the first half, second half broke the line well, was stretched defensively, missed one-on-one with Jones when he scored
6/10
13 Tevita Kuridrani
Good support runner for his second try, won a good turnover at the breakdown. Defensively, the partnership with Kerevi doesn’t work
7/10
14 Marika Koroibete
Didn’t see any of the ball, didn’t come looking for it either, doesn’t miss a tackle though.
6/10
15 Kurtley Beale
Not great under the high ball, dropped one under little pressure, beaten by Seymour to another, took his try well but rightly sin-binned at the end
6/10
