Player Ratings: Implosion
OPINION: Wallabies' 20-37 defeat to the All Blacks adds to extra pressure on the under-fire head coach Michael Chieka ahead of the November Test series.
The side kept the score close for the majority of the time, but silly offloads, forced individual errors handed New Zealand an easy path to a comfortable win.
Leezil Hendricks rates the Australian players
15 Dane Haylett-Petty
Not the best performance from the fullback had a perfect try-scoring opportunity in the opening minutes but blew it and on some occasion was too energic.
5/10
14 Sefa Naivalu
He made a few good breaks and powered his way past Beauden Barrett for a try. Made a couple of tackle but just and too little ball to make an impressive impact.
6/10
13 Israel Folau
He looked comfortable in the No.13 jersey but not really his spectacular self. He made some silly kicks but made up for it on attack. Made 10 carries and beat a couple of defenders.
6/10
12 Kurtley Beale
After 20 minutes of play the centre had 3 carries, and his long-range penalty kick released some pressure for the side. Solid shift from the centre.
5/10
11 Marika Koroibete
Was impressive on attack and despite his work rate in defence the wing is still fragile and struggled to keep up with All Blacks wing Ben Smith.
5/10
10 Bernard Foley
One of the best on the park for the Wallabies. The flyhalf made three try-saving tackles and dictated much of play. Managed to beat a few defenders and his kicks proved to be influential.
7/10
9 Will Genia
Made some good decisions and his passes were accurate. However, he missed a couple of tackles.
6/10
8 David Pocock
Carried the ball really well and won a turnover. Made all his tackles and produced yet another overall good performance.
6/10
7 Michael Hooper
A high work rate on attack – boast with nine carries and was busy on defence - one of the best loose forwards for his team.
7/10
6 Ned Hanigan
Slipped a tackle and failed to make a physical impact at the breakdown battle.
4/10
5 Rob Simmons
Was running hard and proved a threat on attack but was not very industrious when it came to set-piece work. Certainly, proved himself to Michael Cheika.
5/10
4 Izack Rodda
Made more than a handful of tackles – one that stands out is the big hit on Kieran Read. He stole a line-out, however, lack intensity when it came to attacking.
5/10
3 Allan Alaalatoa
Boast with the most metres made compared to his front row partners, while his carries help the side over the advantage line.
6/10
2 Folau Faingaa
Seems like he is getting used to the Wallabies No.2 jumper, made some powerful runs and proved to be a handful to the All Blacks and his line-out throws has vastly improved.
6/10
1 Scott Sio
Under pressure in the scrums and conceded a penalty. Tackle rate was mediocre but made up for it with seven carries.
5/10
Replacements:
16 Tolu Latu (on for Faingaa, 55th min)
The hooker did not spend much time on the pitch. His yellow card in the 66th minutes made is very difficult for his team.
4/10
17 Sekope Kepu (on for Sio, 55th min)
Carried well, made some strong tackles and helped keep a 7-man scrum.
5/10
18 Taniela Tupou (on for Alaalatoa, 55th min)
Was good on attack with his handful of carries and made some tackles, but conceded a penalty.
5/10
19 Rory Arnold (on for Simmons, 65th min)
Not enough time to be rated
20 Jack Dempsey ( on for Hanigan, 51st min)
Conceded a couple of penalties, failed to make all his tackles, however, his attack was better.
5/10
21 Nick Phipps (on for Genia, 70th min)
Not enough time to be rated
22 Samu Kerevi (on for Naivalu, 57th min)
Added the spark the side needed and looked threatening with ball in hand.
7/10
23 Tom Banks (on for Haylett-Petty, 71st min)
Not enough time to be rated
