Tall tales & fishy stories: The legends
VIDEO: How often do you get two real legends - like the World Rugby Player of the Century and the South African Player of the Century - on the same stage?
In June the world's largest private rugby museum, The World Rugby Experience at Nooitgedacht`near Stellenbosch in the Western Cape, officially opened its doors.
It was indeed an auspicious occasion.
Not only was a substantial number of the 1968 British & Irish Lions in attendance, as part of their 50th-anniversary tour to South Africa, but a number of legends of the game entertained the guests.
Guest speakers included former Springbok captains Jean de Villiers, Theuns Stoffberg and Hannes Marais, as well as 1968 B&I Lions scrumhalf Roger Young - who after the tour returned to settle in South Africa and has been living in Langebaan on the West Coast for decades.
However, the coup de grâce of the evening was two of the game's biggest legends - South Africa's player of the century Frik du Preez and World Rugby's player of the century Gareth Edwards.
rugby365 was there to record all the banter, humour and words of wisdom shared by these greats of the game - at a once-in-a-lifetime gathering.
So sit back, relax and enjoy the tall tales and fishy stories, as we bring you a night out with the legends!
