Zimbabwe choose for Craven Week

Zimbabwe have announced their team to take part in the 2009 Craven Week in East London, starting on 13 July.

The team evoked criticism in come quarters for being elitist, but the coach Godwin Murambiwa, a former Zimbabwe senior national team coach,  responded by saying that the Craven Week was not a development thing. The best available teams had to be chosen. He said it was not the place for quotas.

The captain, hooker Takudzwa Mandiwanza, St George's prop Perturbable Akona, Prince Edward scrumhalf Charles Jiji, and utility back Tom Nelson of Peterhouse are the four survivors from last year. The team contains players  who also have national junior colours at cricket - Andrew Lindsay, Craig and Duncan Dollar, Corry van Rensburg and Richard Sainsbury.
