Bishops, who have such a long and rich history in the game have 19 full matches for the season. many against ancient rivals.

They play twice a year against SACS. There is a belief that they first played them in 1862. They certainly have been playing since 1873, making it an ancient match. They first played Stellenbosch in 1878 and have certainly played Paul Roos since 1910. St Andrew's of Grahamstown, natural rivals for Bishops, a rivalry born of similarities, first came to the Cape and played Bishops in 1896. They have played Rondebosch since 1911, Wynberg since 1920, Paarl Boys' High and Paarl Gim since 1929, Bellville since 1948 and Hilton since 1950. Others are more recent - Pretoria Boys High and Tygerberg (1976), Boland Landbou (1985).

Tonbridge School is in Kent, founded in 1553.
