Cambridge surprise HP

Playing at home in their FNB Classic Clash on Saturday, Cambridge High sprang something of a surprise when they beat rivals Hudson Park 20-12.

It was a victory the city side deserved after leading 14-0 at the break and were in fact strongly in the saddle in the first half.

Hudson Park came back with spirit and pride in the second half and actually outscored their victors 10-6.

Cambridge attacked from the start and two tries, by centres Litha Mabece  and Siya Rungqu gave them a 14-0 lead after 15 minutes.

At one stage in the second half Cambridge were down to 13 men when first flyhalf Roland  Hoole and then lock Chase Benito were sent to the sin bin.

Fullback Juan Hart scored for Hudson Park to get them going and soon afterwards a second try, scored by wing Mitchell Best and converted  from touch by Dalu Dobela, made the score an exciting 14-12. But in the last 10 minutes Hoole took his side to safety with two long-range penalties.
